Our Daughter Kate and soon to be son in law Simon, are competing in the London Marathon this year (Simon's third) to raise much needed funds for the charity Cancer Research UK. Although they both now live and work in London, Kate grew up in Teesside, attending Conyers School and Newcastle University; and Simon, in Shropshire and then Liverpool University.
To prepare, they have undergone a rigorous training regime which has involved running and cycling to work, running evenings and weekends, completing two half marathons, the Great North Run and many other runs well in excess of half marathon lengths, culminating in the London Marathon on April 25th 2010.
I’m sure anyone who has competed in the London or any other Marathon knows just how much dedication and physical effort is involved and it would mean a great deal to Kate and Simon if all their efforts were rewarded with a massive donation to a charity that is very close to their hearts; Cancer Research UK.
In just over three months training, they have covered 450 miles in 75 hours, in snow, sleet, ice, rain, wind and a little sunshine, spent 20 hours in physio and sports massages, worn out a couple of pair of trainers and eaten goodness knows how many bacon butties and teacakes!
If you are interested in sponsoring their run please go to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/kateandsimonlondonmarathon where you can donate easily online. Anything you can give will be much appreciated.
If you are happy to sponsor them perhaps you could also forward the message to others who may be pleased to help raise funds for Cancer Research http://www.cancerresearchuk.org by sponsoring Kate & Simon.
Many thanks in advance for your donation; Kate and Simon will be over the moon.
Kind Regards,
Carol & Tony.
